An interactive game of knowledge and enjoyment at 4/4 rhythm.
 
You will find:
12 board cards with rhythmic motifs.
One board card with all the rhythmic motifs which can be used by the caller (teacher, parent, child).
One board card with explanations of musical symbols and reading examples of the rhythmic motifs.
108 small cover cards with images of kinaesthetic ideas, musical instruments, and improvising. Each player will get 9 small cover cards to cover each time the rhythmic motif that will be heard by the caller.
28 individual small cards with rhythmic motifs which the caller can use.
 
You will need:
 
A printer to print all the board cards and small cards of the game
Scissors
2-12 players.
Percussion instruments or handmade percussion instruments.
 
 
How the game is played:
 
Each player chooses a board card.
The caller picks up one of the individual small cards and reads out the rhythmic motif.
The player who has on his/ her board card the rhythmic motif that the caller just announced, covers the motif with one of the small cover cards.
The winner is: a) the player who first will cover three motifs in a row, horizontally, vertically, or diagonally and will call out Rhythmicoοοo! or b) the player who first will cover all the rhythmic motifs on his/her board card and will call out Rhythmicoοοo!
 
 
More ideas:
 
Use the small cover cards and play the rhythmic motifs in different ways.
Create a small orchestra where each player can play on his chosen percussion instrument two or three of the rhythmic motifs from his board card.
In the same way, you can use only the small cover cards and create a body percussion orchestra.
Play memory games or create a composition by using the individual small cards with rhythmic motifs. You can do this either as an individual or as a group. Improvise!
